Mount Rushmore

So after searching for gold in the gold mine, we continued our adventures by heading to Mount Rushmore. Leading up to our trip, Mommy showed me pictures of Lincoln in the mountain so I was really excited to see it for my own eyes.

Wow..how cool!

I'm only three but I think I might remember this when I'm older.

Here's Daddy being silly. This lady offered to take her picture with me and let ME wear her hat..but I didn't want to do it, so Daddy did.

After looking at the mountain, we went inside to see the exhibits that were set up to look at. In this picture I'm putting the finishing touches on Mt. Rushmore. Watch the video to see what I mean.

Hamel Rodeo

I've done a lot of things in my 31/2 years but I've never been to a rodeo, that is until now. I grabbed some popcorn and was ready for some action. I also had one of the best seats you get could.

I couldn't believe how much this horse was kicking and bucking to get the cowboy off.

I told you I had one of the best seats you could get. I showed Daddy how much I appreciated the view by feeding him some popcorn.

This trick rider was fun to watch. She rode those back 2 horses for about 5 minutes..standing the whole time.

Laila thought the rodeo was pretty fun too.

Broken Boot Gold Mine

After arriving in Rapid City and getting a good nights sleep, we started our next adventure by driving to Deadwood, South Dakota. Here we found the Broken Boot Gold Mine. I'm ready to explore!

And so is Laila.

Here I am checking out a deep cave within the mine.

Our tour guide told us that this wheelbarrow has been in that exact spot for close to 100 years. To learn more about this mine go here. http://www.brokenbootgoldmine.com/

This is me with a girl named Aurora. We found out her family live about 3 miles from us. We actually saw them at the library the other day.

188o Town

After spending a couple days in Sioux Falls, we hit the road towards Rapid City, South Dakota. On the way we stopped at 1880 town. http://www.1880town.com/

It was a really neat place to visit so I tried getting a room to spend the night, but was told by the beautiful lady working that they were all booked up.

I thought if I couldn't get a room, I'd get myself a cold drink so off to the saloon I went. Most of 1880 town is stuff to look at but this Saloon was open. The guy on stage is real and was playing some good music.

This friendly guy asked me to play some cards so I did. I'm pretty sure I won the game, but the suddenly not so friendly guy said I owed him money. I refused to pay up...

so me, Daddy and Laila got thrown in jail. I tried using my cell phone to call Mommy to bail us out, but found out that cell phones didn't work in 1880 town. I instead had to send Mommy a telegram..whatever that is.

1880 Town pt2

Mommy finally showed up with the bail money but only had enough for me and Laila. Sorry Daddy, We'll come back for you. I was really thirsty after spending time in the slammer so I found the nearest water well and started pumping.

We went to the mayor's office to see if he could help us get Daddy out of jail. He wasn't there but we later found out the guy I played cards with WAS the mayor. Sorry Daddy.

The three of us went to check out this old house. My favourite thing in this room is the old crib.

Mommy says..We should really find a way to get Daddy out of jail.

Ozzy says..Maybe tomorrow or the year after.

Our last stop at 1880 town was this really old school classroom. I bet my Baba Baba had a class like this when she was in school.

Happy 4th of July

Today was a big day for Laila, it was her first 4th of July. In this picture I'm telling her the importance of this day for her and her fellow Americans. Clearly she's impressed.

Laila, Laila, I love my little Laila:)

Laila is 4 months old now and weighs 15 pounds. She's a very happy baby but kind of fussy when it comes to naptime..or maybe I just make too much noise when she's trying to fall asleep? Anyway, it's the 4th of July so let's party.

New Friends

This is the area around our front door. Do you see anything special??

A robin made a nest and layed three pretty blue eggs. We think they'll hatch in the next week or so. I can't wait to see them.

Momma is back from gathering food. I hope she's getting lots of sleep because three little birdies will be lots of work.
